Right Based Learning allows children to learn about their RIGHTS which are articulated through the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The aim is that through their culture, systems and practice the school will foster the social and emotional needs of children, enabling them to attain and achieve in an environment that champions the ethos and resect and dignity.
We are a Rights Respecting School and have successfully gained our Level 1 award in June 2015.
Our rights are very important to us and we respect each other’s rights. In each class we have a charter which has been agreed by all the children and their teacher. We also have a school charter which every child and adult in the school has agreed.
The rights on our School Charter are:
- Article 28 – The right to an education.
- Article 19 – The right to be protected from being hurt or badly treated.
- Article 6 – The right to life and be healthy.
